Alpas is a batteries-included yet a modular web framework for Kotlin with a very strong focus on developers' productivity. It is fun to build an HTML web app or an API only app with Alpas.

  • Q1: What are your first impressions?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

Alpas has a fun space themed design - which evokes the sense of something cutting edge. Yet, the imagery and colors are fun and inviting over something that is hyper engineering focused.

The main website is largely a single page and easy to follow from top to bottom. There are some other sites that it links to which are within the contextual realm of Alaps - such as an example app name Fireplace and documentation for the Alpas web-framework. 🚀

Space theme is the best theme! 🚀

  • Q2: What are the first actions you take?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

After reading the intro - I first click on the screencasts button as it is different than the normal 'get started' CTA, though that CTA is adjacent. I am just curious what it will present - which is a Youtube channel for AlpasCasts, a tutorial website.

After looking at the Youtube channel, I go back to the main site and work myself down the page.

  • Q3: What was your journey navigating the site like? Does the flow make sense?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

The flow makes sense as the primary navigation mainly takes you to other domains / sub-domains; so really I just scroll down the page to gain better understanding of Alpas.

  • Q4: Who do you believe the target audience is?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

The audience is for web-developers - ones that are looking to develop web apps easily. Looks like Alpas comes fully packaged with what you'd need to develop an app while at the same time letting you swap out out-of-the-box modules with others of your choosing.

  • Q5: What do you believe a reasonable price is and what do you believe a high price is?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

I think the framework is free to use since it is on GitHub.

  • Q6: Do you find the product desirable?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

I do! I want to try building my own app without getting a headache trying to figure out how to do the things I want to do - such as send out emails and user authentication. Alpas appears to have that build in. Otherwise, I'd be stressing to A) find a means to do those actions and B) trying to make it work with the framework I'm using.

  • Q7: What would you change about the website?
    ARMiedema ARMiedema

I'd like to see some examples. I'm a visual person - I see the fireplace example which is cool - but I'd like to see others; especially, real web apps that use Alpas.
